Why do these events matter?

Once upon a time, food, dancing, games, parades, and storytelling were an excuse for immigrants, neighbors and guests to meet, share diverse cultures, and create new traditions. Some things never change. While Labor Day honors the railroaders, miners, and their loved ones who fought for fair and safe work environments, many Homecomings were originally celebrations of veterans returning home from war. And, to share the heritage of students from around the world attending Pittsburg State University, numerous international festivals are held, including an International Showcase, Holi Festival of Colors, Diwali Festival of Lights, and Global Fest: An International Night Market.
