PITTSBURG, KS – To honor the completion of the Pittsburg Community Middle School renovations, a ribbon cutting will be held September 1, and open houses will be held September 7 and 8.
Ribbon cutting details
Pittsburg Community Schools USD 250 will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to honor the completion of the 2022 PCMS Bond Project on September 1, 2023 from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm in the Pittsburg Community Middle School Auditorium.
USD 250 will welcome notable members of the project such as Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Richard Proffitt, and representatives from McCown and Gordon and Corner-Greer and Associates.
“We are excited to share this event with the people that helped make this project come to life. What once was the oldest and most run down facility in USD 250 has now become some of the most beautiful spaces we have available for our staff, students and community,” Proffitt said.
Open houses details
Pittsburg Community Schools USD 250 will host two nights of open houses for community members to tour the 2022 PCMS Bond site.
The newly renovated portion of the school will be open to the public on Thursday, September 7th and Tuesday, September 12th from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm.
“There is a lot of interest from the community to see this project and we can’t wait for everyone to see it finished,” Superintendent, Mr Richard Proffitt said. “We took a lot of pride in the history of this building during the renovation and we hope that students, past and present, as well as the community appreciate the value of this building.”
Visitors can expect to see modern architecture blended with tributes to the school’s rich history. The historic 1921 building housed high school students until 1981 when it was turned into, and is still today, Pittsburg Community Middle School.
All four levels of the building have been renovated and will be open for viewing. All other areas of PCMS will be closed to the public during this function.
