Frontenac Mining Days: July 6-9

“Where we come from helps shape who we are,” says Keesha Hervey of Hello Frontenac. “Nowhere is that more prevalent in the history of America than in small towns.”

Frontenac Mining Days began in 2016 as a rebirth of the Frontenac Kansas Homecoming Celebration which had been shelved almost a decade before.

“What started as an opportunity for old friends to get together, quickly grew to become a celebration of all things wonderful about small town America, fireworks included,” Hervey says.

Using the background of the community’s mining and somewhat checkered bootlegging history, event organizers focused on creating a family fun weekend for all visitors, even if they’ve never been to Frontenac before.

A full four day extravaganza with an ever growing list of events, Mining Days includes a full professional carnival, candy filled parade, ice-cream social, free kids events, vendors, history events, street dances, contests and more. All while teaching visitors about the importance that small towns like Frontenac have on the history of America.

“The people of Frontenac welcome both friends and strangers alike to the celebration,” says Hervey. “We encourage everyone to come make memories at Frontenac Mining Days.”
